LIONS YOUTH EXCHANGE PROGRAM

The Lions International Youth Exchange Program was established in 1961 to give youth an opportunity to travel to exciting international destinations for up to six weeks. Whilst overseas, the youth live with one or more families associated with Lions International to experience first-hand a new culture, lifestyle and customs. Unlike some exchange programs, the Lions Youth Exchange Program does not involve tourism, academic studies or employment. For more information regarding this program check their website at http://www.lionsclubs.org.au/ye/.

Lugarno Lions Club has been an active participant for a number of years in this program. Their speciality is acting as greeters for overseas and Australian students transferring from overseas to domestic flights and vice versa. They also arrange home stays for students in transit. Currently Lugarno has Lions Richard Goodfellow, Chris Starkey, Dennis Whittingstall, Kulendran (Kool) Anaimugan and PDG Elvio Munzone as airport greeters operating under the guidance of Lion Gae Bergin (Sydney Seaside Lions) as Youth Exchange District 201N5 Chair.
