2012 Lions Biggest BBQ Aussie ‘Barbie’ to Support Childhood Cancer Research
IT'S ON AGAIN........Weather permitting we will be running the Lions Biggest BBQ again in 2012. Planning for the 2012 Lions Biggest BBQ is in full swing, with many Lions Clubs around Australia working together to encourage Australian communities to support the efforts of the Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation (ALCCRF) achieve its vision of 100% survival for kids with cancer. Lugarno Lions Club will be hosting a Mini Fair (see details below) as their part of the Lions Biggest BBQ event. The event will be a smaller version of the well known and popular Lugarno Lions Spring Festival held in adjacent Gannons Park each year. “It never ceases to amaze me what Aussies can do when they work together” said Jim Ede, Trustee of ALCCRF. Who would have thought the good old Aussie Barbie could have been used to help Lions raise over $4.5 million for childhood cancer research. Well that’s what we have done but the job’s not over. More than 600 Australian kids are diagnosed every year with various forms of childhood cancer and unfortunately we are still seeing around three kids dying every week. Many of the 1,400 Lions Australia clubs will hold barbeques during April to raise funds for medical research into the causes and prevention of, and to find a cure for, childhood cancer. Why Lions have been passionately supporting childhood cancer research since 1996 is very simple. “We believe every child deserves the chance at a healthy life” said Jim Ede. Details of the Lugarno Lions Club Lions Biggest BBQ Event: Date: 21st April 2012 Time: 8.30am to 3.00pm Location: Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, cnr Forest Rd & Isaac St, Peakhurst The mini fair will consist of stalls, children's rides and, of course, the BBQ. All funds from the event will be donated to the Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation. If you wish to make a donation to Childhood Cancer Research so that one day we will achieve 100% survival for kids with cancer please send it to: Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation PO Box 97 Mortdale NSW 2223 |
